Monday, Jan 9 2012 at 9:34 am - This is a rare large-format original 1938 lithograph, hand-painted using a pochoir process, of a painted buffalo robe (skin) secured by from the Mandan by Lewis and Clark in 1805. This archaic style painting illustrates a horse battle between the Minnetaree and the conjoined forces of the Sioux or Mandan and Arikara.
