Friday, May 11 2012 at 7:28 pm - This is a rare original 1888 color chromolithograph which depicts a lively ensemble of women from Normandy, all wearing popular fashions from the earlier half of the 19th century. The traditional bonnets worn by these ladies generally began with a stylized hennin, the cone-shaped headdresses from the late Middle Ages, which was then covered in silk and fine silver or gold embroideries.
