Thursday, May 17 2012 at 12:06 pm - This is a rare original 1888 color chromolithograph which depicts a variety of feminine attire worn by the ladies of historical Persia. It was customary, as with many cultures of the time, for women to cover their hair. This tradition had little to do with the rise in Islam across the Middle East, and was rather a merging of a new religion with previous cultural norms.
