1938 Hand-Painted Lithograph Native American Comanche Husband Wife Scalp Ute Man - Hand-Painted Lithograph Review
Friday, Dec 23 2011 at 10:44 pm - This is a rare large-format original 1938 lithograph, hand-painted using a pochoir process, of a Comanche man and wife during a fight with a Ute. It is said that the Comanche commanded his wife to lance the Ute, but because she fell in love with the enemy upon first sight, she turned the lance on her husband. However, when the Comanche defeated the enemy, the wife rushed to his aid and cut off the Ute's head. Later, the woman was slain with arrows by her brother, as was the penalty for treason.
