1883 Japanese Art Woman Makimono Kimono Spider Web RARE - Original Chromolithograph
Thursday, Nov 3 2011 at 4:04 pm - This is an original 1883 chromolithograph from a color print, produced from a wooden block, of a painting that was exhibited in the Japanese Court of the Paris Exposition of 1867. It depicts a beautiful Japanese lady rising from the mist at her feet. She is holding a makimono, or hand scroll. One end of the makimono is held by a spider whose web fills the painting's background. An unusual piece! We also have provided a close-up image of the lady--please see both images.
