1883 Japanese Lacquer Screen Bodzu Boy Chromolithograph - Original Chromolithograph
Monday, Nov 7 2011 at 7:47 am - This is an original 1883 chromolithograph of a Japanese black lacquered screen panel embellished with gold, colored lacquer, stained ivory, and mother-of-pearl. The hands and face of the old badzu (Japanese priest?) are stained ivory and he is followed by an attendant boy whose face is also done in stained ivory. The gold ink unfortunately, does not show up well in our digital capture, appearing dull brown.
